“Covid situations horrifies the Delhi Government’.

The supreme court on Friday banged the Delhi government news reports showing disgraceful conditions of medical wards in Delhi, where dead bodies were not only inwards but were also found in the entrance hall and foyer.

The court slammed Arvind Kejriwal -led Delhi government for it's the handling of dead bodies, stating it “very sorry state of affairs”.

A bench of Justice Ashok Bhushan, SK Kaul, and  MR Shah took Suo moto cognizance of the ill-treatment been given out to COVID patients in hospitals and also the lacking in dignity the way in which dead bodies of COVID patients were being treated.

Mr Tushar Mehta representing the centre said there was a case in Delhi where dead bodies were found along with patients, who were going through treatment.

The Bench termed the situation in Delhi Pathetic and reapproached the government for patients being placed along with stacks of dead bodies in the hospitals. They came to know that patients' families were not even informed about the deaths in some cases. So they were not able to attend the last riots of their near and dear ones.

It was sighted that the problem was with the way the pandemic was been fought in the national capital.

The numbers of tests done in Delhi were lesser than Chennai and Mumbai… What was the reason behind it asked the Bench??

Nobody has to say no to the tests for technical reasons…The process of the tests should be simple so more and more tests for COVID can be done, said the bench.

The court also noted that there is a grim situation in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.
