COVID-19 INDIA UPDATE: Reverse trend of migrants, as they apply to come back to Haryana; Coronavirus recovery rate in India climbs up-to 29.9%.
As the government still is ferrying the migrants across the country, over one lakh migrants from U.P and Bihar have applied to come back to the state on a Haryana government web portal. Districts like Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonipat, Panipat, Rewari, Jhajjar and Yamunanagar with maximum business establishments and industrial activities were the top places where the migrants seek to return, with 72.29% applying for these districts.
Haryana Principal Secretary Anurag Rastogi positively stated, "If migrant workers want to come to Haryana, we will try to make arrangements to bring them back. Industrial activities have already started in the state." Another factor for the migrants wanting to come back can also be attributed to Haryana's low COVID-19 cases tally. On the other hand, 7.95 lakh workers wanted to leave the state in contrast to 1.46 lakh migrants who applied to return, on a web portal launched six days ago by the Haryana government.
Meanwhile, in India's battle against Coronavirus, 3320 fresh COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours with 95 fatalities. This takes the nationwide tally near 60,000 and the death toll to 1,981. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has revealed that India's recovery rate has increased to 29.9%, in the press conference he said, "Our fatality rate in the country continues to be around 3.3%, and the recovery rate has climbed up to 29.9%, these are very good indicators. Doubling rate for last 3 days has been about 11 days, for last 7 days it has been 9.9 days. We do not anticipate a very worst type of situation in our country like many other developed countries but still we have prepared the whole country for the worst situation."
The state of Maharashtra remains the worst affected with 19,063 Coronavirus cases and 731 deaths. Gujarat is second on the list with 7,402 cases, despite a complete lockdown implemented in Ahmedabad, the most affected city in Gujarat, till 15th May where only milk and medicines will be available. Delhi is third with 6318 infections.
