Coronavirus India Update: Maharashtra registers the highest number of cases.

Nations all around the world have turned to lockdown as an alternative to help lower the number of cases caused due to COVID-19. The decision for India was also taken a few days ago by PM Narendra Modi looking at the increasing numbers of cases that were getting registered every day & to act upon immediately to fight against the virus collectively as a nation. However, even after the steps taken by the lockdown of the nation, the virus seems to continue its spread & every day, new numbers are emerging from different states of the country.


The latest update of Coronavirus in our country suggests that 68 people have died due to COVID-19 & as on Saturday, the confirmed cases in the country rose to 2,902 as per updates given by the Union Health Ministry. However, the number of active cases in the country remains at 2,650, out of which one moved to another country & 183 were either discharged or cured. The state-wise latest data of the ministry suggest six recent deaths as of now that have been reported which includes three deaths from Maharashtra, two deaths from Delhi & one death from Gujarat.




The highest single-day increase till now for India was reported on Friday when new 478 cases. However, Maharashtra reports the highest number of positive cases & stands at 537. Also, the state reports the highest number of deaths as well, with a total of 26 at the time of writing this article. Out of the 26 fatalities, 18 are from Mumbai, four are from MMR excluding Mumbai, two are from Pune & one each from Jalgaon & Buldhana districts. It has also been said that more than 25% of the confirmed cases in the nation are linked to Tablighi Jamaat gathering held at Delhi last month. Following Maharashtra with the highest number of positive cases in the country, Tamil Nadu stands with 411 infected people, Delhi registers 386 cases, Kerala climbs to 295, Rajasthan registers 179, Uttar Pradesh cases rise to 174, Andhra Pradesh registers 161 & Telangana goes up to 158 confirmed cases. Other states also see a hike in confirmed cases as Karnataka stands at 128, Madhya Pradesh reports 104, Gujarat cases rise to 105, Jammu & Kashmir registers 75 confirmed cases & West Bengal cases rise to 63.


Talking on the availability of health kits in the nation Health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan said that the procurement process for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) kits, ventilators, N95 masks has reached the advanced stage & will soon reach the states as well. He also ensured that as of today, there is no shortage.
