Chad Michael Murray says "there's always talk" about rebooting One Tree Hill
Chad Michael Murray played Lucas Scott on the series but saw the show return with a "new generation."
Chad Michael Murray is not considering returning to Tree Hill.
Speaking to New York-based WNYW's Fox affiliate, Murray opened up about what has been said about the return of the previous series, One Tree Hill.
"You know, I don't know," Murray, 40, told news anchor Rosana Scotto. "No ideas. There's always talk. I say so. There's always talk."
Instead of pursuing in the footsteps of his previous character, Lucas Scott, Murray has a different take on how his favorite drama could develop in a new era. "I believe there wants to be a new generation at Tree Hill," he said. "I think there are so many problems facing society today that can be solved at this event.
Murray also looks back on some of the difficult moments One Tree Hill went through, many of which speak of current events in America. "The cool thing about One Tree Hill was that we had so many problems back then," he said.
"All of the Columbine shoots we did on our shows, and we did," he continued. "It was scary because you were dealing with a problem that hurt many people. But it brought it out into the open and created awareness of the situation. So I think the new generation of Tree Hill will be something good for the world."
Speaking of his potential involvement, Murray said, "Whether I'm a part of it or not is something that's neither here nor there. I think it's good for the world at large." Murray had considered rebooting One Tree Hill before, telling TV Fanatic last year, "I believe there will be a new iteration of One Tree Hill at some point."
One Tree Hill ran for nine seasons between 2003 and 2012. Although initially aired on The WB, later episodes aired on The CW.
Last year, Murray co-starred Hillary Burton, Sofia Bush, and Bethany Joy Lenz launched a podcast called Drama Queens to share episodes and photos at One Tree Hill. The podcast is currently in its 2nd season.
