Blast on Kerch Bridge in Russia kills 3

Chaos erupted after the blast on the Kurch railway bridge connecting Russia to Crimea. According to media reports, the blast took place in the bridge at 6 am on Saturday. The incident took place when the fuel tank of the freight train caught fire. After which a part of the roadway bridge fell into the river. The bridge is seen as a symbol of Russia's occupation of Crimea.

Mykhailo Podolyaky, head of Ukraine's presidential adviser on the explosion, tweeted - Crimea bridge is the beginning. All items taken from Ukraine must be returned to Russia. Everything illegal will be destroyed. Everything under Russian occupation will be rejected.

The sound of the blast was heard several kilometers away

According to locals, the sound of the blast on the bridge was heard several kilometers away. After the blast in the bridge, a video has gone viral on social media. In which some freight trains and fuel tanks of the railway line caught fire. So a part of the roadway bridge fell into the sea.

The blast took place on the roadway side of the bridge

Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) said the explosion occurred in a cargo vehicle on the road side of the bridge. After which seven fuel tanks of the freight train caught fire. The train was going to Crimea. The explosion damaged two sections of the roadway bridge.

Crimean parliament speaker Vladimir Konstantinov blamed Ukraine for the explosion. He said the bridge was not badly damaged. Repairs will begin soon.

Crimean spokesman Dmitry Peskov said President Putin had ordered a government investigation into the bridge accident.

Putin got punched on his birthday

Former Australian general and war policy analyst Mick Ryan said on the explosion - it is too early to talk about the Kerch Bridge explosion. It's like punching President Putin in the face on his birthday. According to Ryan, such a blast requires large amounts of explosives and good planning. It is difficult for a soldier to carry so many explosives.

However, such an explosion can be carried out by a truck loaded with explosives or by a missile. Russia could still supply logistics for the troops by water via Melitopol.
