Barcelona buy Adama Traore on loan from Wolves

Key takeaways:

Barca signed Adama Traore:

The Spanish club will spend the 26-year-old's salary and purchase him in the summer.

Traore has 18 months remaining on his Wolves agreement, and no deal has been called on expanding his contract.

"Everyone understands Barcelona is a city and club, very near to Adama's soul. It's a dream move for him," stated Wolves technical director Scott Sellars.

Traore started his career at Barcelona before exiting the Nou Camp for Aston Villa in 2015.

He then spent two years at Middlesbrough before entering Wolves for a then club-record £18m in 2018.

The winger has completed 154 appearances for the Black Country club, netting 11 goals.

BBC Sport comprehends Tottenham had a £15m offer for Traore denied, although sources at the London club refuse to make a bid.

"Adama has consistently acted with the utmost professionalism," stated Sellars.

"However, it is no mystery we have not been able to decide on a new contract with him, despite protracted negotiations, and his passion at the moment is to play football elsewhere."

"We have also decided a very healthy choice in the agreement should Barcelona hope to make the move permanent this summer."
