Are this decade's 2010 to 2019 top batsmen are good enough compare to Sachin and Lara.
We have seen the rise of many top batsmen like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Steven Smith, Warner, Babar, Hope from west indies, Root from England, Kane Williamson from NZ.
These batsmen are top in the list in every format 20-20 to 50 over matches to the red ball or pink ball. But my question is are they higher than some past cricketers. Well, for me still Tendulkar, Dravid, Lara, Hayden are greatest in past 30years of cricket.
They have played in a tough situation in tough pitches, not flat pitches like today we see. Then rules were different; bats were different, bowlers were skilful like McGrath, Wasim Waqar, Shoib, Brett, Ambrose, Walsh, saqlin, Warne, Shane Bond, Kumble, Harbhajan and few more.
So when you compare these era's batsman with them then inevitably their averages will come down and consistency too. I do not doubt their talent. Still, I feel as a cricketer they are not tested enough against such bowlers and pitches were we can surely say that this batsman is the most elegant batsman of two decades like we use to respond for Sachin, Lara, Dravid and before than Gavaskar, Bradman and all.
You might say I am not giving credit to today's batsman, but as a sportsman, I feel I don't find good bowlers do not test competition in today's cricket batsman like Kohli, Steven Smith, Sharma, Williamson.
It would have been great if these top batsman had come ten years before then surely out of these names a few names would have gone down.
But giving credit to their skills there is no doubt that these decades top batsman has been Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Steven Smith, Hope is in his starting but looking to his talent, he will go long, Williamson, Root.
