Allianz Victory Would Strengthen World Cup Confidence – Breach
England wing Jess Breach is confident that facing New Zealand at Twickenham’s newly renamed Allianz Stadium will give the Red Roses the edge they need to break their Rugby World Cup final curse next year.
The Red Roses will take on the Black Ferns at the iconic 82,000-capacity stadium on Saturday, aiming to extend their impressive 16-match winning streak. This run began after New Zealand's victory over England in the 2022 World Cup final.
The Black Ferns have been England's nemesis in World Cup finals, winning in 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2017. However, Breach is hopeful that the outcome will be different when the two teams meet at the same venue next year for the 2025 Rugby World Cup final.
"It's incredible," Breach said about playing at Allianz Stadium. "The more we face New Zealand, the more we get used to their game, and hopefully, by the time the World Cup comes, it'll be a different story."
England got a taste of revenge last November, defeating New Zealand 33-12 in Auckland. The two teams are set to clash again in October during the WXV competition in Canada.
