Alec Baldwin declare the death of his mother, Carol, 92: He taught me the second half

Carol M. Baldwin, the mother of actor Alec Baldwin, has died. He is 92 years old.

When Alec announced his death on Instagram on Thursday, he posted a retro photo of his mother and a more recent image. The caption reads, "Carol M. Baldwin, mother of actors Alec, Daniel, William, and Stephen Baldwin, and their two daughters, Elizabeth and Jane, died today in Syracuse, New York."

She shared details of her life, writing, "She was born Carol Newcomb Martino in Syracuse on December 15, 1929, is the child of Roy and Marion Martino and has one brother, Daniel, and five sisters, Patricia, Joan. Diane, Louise, and Rebecca."

She said she met her husband, Alexander R. Baldwin Jr., nicknamed Alec when they were students at Syracuse University. His family moved to Long Island, and there he worked as a history teacher and soccer and rifle coach at Massapequa High School. She later died in 1983 at the age of 55, the actor said in a post at the local mall," wrote Alec. "In 1991, she was analyzed with breast cancer. In a statement included in a touching Instagram post, Alec said: "My mom taught me the second half. And the third act too. She has consumed the last 25 years fighting and fighting for the cause to which she dedicated her life. We are all very proud of their accomplishments."

The publication added that Carol outlived her six children, 25 and 14 great-grandchildren. Details of the memorial will be announced later.
