Air India resumes sale of tickets for some foreign nations; India reports 9887 Covid-19 infections.

On Friday, Air India resumed bookings for select foreign flights at 5 pm as part of phase-3 of #VandeBharatMission. ANI reported that till Saturday, 8 AM, Air India’s website witnessed 6-7 times more activity & over 22,000 tickets were sold. Air India will commence international flights to select destinations like USA, Canada, United Kingdom and Europe. Earlier, the Aviation Ministry said that they were targeting to resume international flights before August 2020.



India’s cases rise but transmission rate due to Covid-19 declines:
As per the Union Health Ministry, India reported 9887 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours as the nation’s Coronavirus tally climbed to 236,657 on Friday. This is the biggest single-day spike in cases as a number of deaths reported on Friday was also the highest in a single day with 294 deaths. India’s death toll due to Coronavirus rose to 6642. The Union Health Ministry revealed 114,072 patients have recovered from the virus and the active total number of cases is 115,942.


On a positive note, gradual relaxations in the lockdown over the last month have not triggered a major rise in the country’s Covid-19 infections. The transmission rate has been steadily going down as well and is at its lowest since the calculation began in the country.

Double blow for Mumbai:
Mumbai city doctors have noticed a dreadful trend of Covid-19 patients affected with dengue as well. Recently, it was observed that many dengue patients have caught the Coronavirus, which is a double blow for the island city which is already reeling as it is the worst affected Indian city due to the virus.


India becomes the sixth-worst Covid-19 affected nation:
As per Johns Hopkins University’s data, India became the sixth the worst-affected country in terms of Covid-19 infections after the United States, Brazil, Russia, Spain and the UK.

India surpassed Italy’s tally of over 235,000 cases into the sixth position. The Global tally of Coronavirus infections rose to 6.42 million and death reported due to it climbed to 383,000.
