After two actors declining the offer, Sandeep Vanga Reddy yet to finalise a hero for his next project.

The much talked about & controversial film of 2019 ‘Kabir Singh’ hit a chord with audiences in different ways. A few of them went gaga over the Hindi version of the Telugu film ‘Arjun Reddy’ which was also directed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy & a few others highly criticized the film being about male chauvinism & anti-feminist. All this however, did not affect the film in terms of business & it came out with flying colours at the box office.

The film went through a series of emotions from the audiences similar to the character of Kabir in the movie played by Shahid Kapoor & the film opened with mixed reviews with some loving the way Kabir loved Preeti in the film while others criticising the fact that it promotes physical violence against women. Vanga has been consistent since then defending his idea of showcasing love on the screen & also make people understand that the characters itself were flawed & that they should be seen & accepted that way.

Recent reports suggest that Vanga is caught in a problematic situation on finalising a hero for his next film ‘Devil’. The Hindi film was supposedly offered to actor Ranbir Kapoor who turned it down saying he is not ready to take up the project at this point in his career as it is about a grey character.

The role was first offered to Mahesh Babu, who also turned it down as the actor was not ready to portray a dark character.

In another controversy, Sandeep during an interview post the release of ‘Kabir Singh’ quoted, "If you can't slap, if you can't touch your woman wherever you want, and if you can't slap, you can't kiss, you can't use cusswords, I don't see emotion there."

The blunt director also later said that the interview was edited in a very wrong way & that he tried to explain the protagonist’s mindset in the film who believed that violence may be his way of expressing love and that he was not propagating it as his. He even complained that a few critics get a kick for pulling down a film if it's not within the boundaries of accepted morality.

Even after facing criticism & getting caught in controversies ‘Kabir Singh became one of the highest-grossing films of the year with a box office collection of over 300 crores & giving Shahid Kapoor his career’s first stand-alone hit.
