Pink's debut album Can't Take Me Home was released around the turn of the century with R&B flair and hits like Most Girls, You Make Me Sick, and There You Go. The singer, whose real name is Alesia Moore, took a more difficult path with her second album before adopting a somewhat more poppy sound on many of her later records.
Hits like Just Give Me A Reason, Try, What About Us, Sober, and Walk Me Home remained important on radio playlists long after their release.
Madonna took second place on the charts after a four-decade career releasing hit records including True Blue, Ray Of Light, and Music. In 3rd place is Katy Perry, whose third album, Teenage Dream 2010, is one of the most popular. Rihanna and Lady Gaga were fourth and fifth, respectively. England was represented on the action list, including Adele, who finished sixth, and Little Mix, ninth.
Adele's second studio album, 21, is one form the most successful releases from all time, selling over five million copies also winning a Grammy and British Album of the Year. The singer will return to music next week with his new single, Easy On Me. Despite being one from the best-selling artists in the world, Adele has only released three studio albums to date, while Pink has released eight - which in turn has provided more material for radio dramas.
The PPL schedule marks the start of celebrations ahead of the fourth edition of National Album Day on Saturday, October 16, in which this year's artists will be participating. Kylie Minogue, who finished eighth, said, "it's an honor to be one of the most played actresses in 21st century England and to be in great company!"
He added, "It's amazing to me, and I'm so touched to know that so many people continue to enjoy my music." Peter Leatham, CEO of PPL, said, "This chart brings together the incredible talent that has recorded some of the UK's most beloved music, including some of the biggest and most influential albums of all time."
