According To Official Documents, Alec Baldwin Waved A Gun At The Camera During Rust's Rrial.

Key Sentence:

  • Actor Alec Baldwin painted his body with a revolver.

Then, according to legal documents, he pointed it at the camera during a rehearsal for the American film when he took the picture with tragic results. Cinematographer Halina Hutchins was killed, and director Joel Souza was injured while filming Rust on Thursday. Confessions with statements from Souza and cameraman Reed Russell explain what happened.

Court documents state that Baldwin was given a gun and told he was taken down. Souza said he was behind Hutchins when they were both hits. "Joel said they had Alec sit on a pew in the church building, and he drew a cross," he said. Joel said he was looking over Hutchins' shoulder when he heard what sounded like a whip and then a loud cracking sound."

What is a gun, and why is it dangerous?

The document states that Hutchins, 42, was shot in the chest. "Then Joel vaguely remembers [Hutchins] complaining about his stomach and grabbing him in the middle. Joel also says [Hutchins] tripped and was helped to the ground." Russell, who stood beside Hutchins during the shooting, told officers he couldn't feel his legs.

When asked how Baldwin handled firearms on set, Russell said the actor was conscientious, citing a case where the star ensured the child actor was not present when the gun was fired. Authorities said Friday that Assistant Director Dave Halls had handed the gun to Baldwin and declared it a "cold weapon," indicating it was safe to use.

Meanwhile, Rust's chief electrician Sergei Svetnoy said in a Facebook post on Sunday that he held Hutchins in his arms when he died, blaming "negligence and unprofessionalism" for his death. On Sunday, a crew member who worked with Halls on another project said they had raised concerns about his safety in 2019.

A prop maker and licensed pyrotechnics expert, Maggie Gol told the Associated Press (AP) that she ignored gun safety and TV fireworks protocol and tried to resume shooting after the supervised pyrotechnics expert lost consciousness. Halls failed to respond to the AP's request for comment. But, Goll added, "This situation isn't for Dave Halls ... it's nobody's fault. It's a bigger talk about set safety and what we're trying to achieve with that culture."

"Reid said the film crew had problems with salary and housing production," said the statement, which stated that six crew members had left. The Santa Fe Sheriff's Office investigates the incident while the manufacturer is also conducting an internal investigation. Producers stopped working on the set "at least until the investigation is complete."

In a statement read at candlelight on Saturday, Hutchins' husband, Matthew, described his wife's death as a "huge loss". He also posted a photo of the couple with their nine-year-old son.
