A New Nano-Drug Kills Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Cells.

The triple-negative breast cancer cell is one of the most aggressive and fatal types of breast cancer. The new drug, developed via researchers at the University of Arkansas, can help clinicians aim for the breast cancer cells directly, during avoiding the adverse, toxic surface effects of chemotherapy.

Researchers linked a new class of nanomaterials designed for targeted drug delivery, called metal-organic frameworks, with ligands molecules that bind to other molecules.

An already developed photodynamic therapy drug to create a nanoporous material that targets and kills tumour cells outdoors creating toxicity for normal cells. Photodynamic therapy is a non-invasive approach that relies on photosensitizers that generate so-called cells.

PDT has also shown its ability to treat tumours without surgery, chemo, or radiation.  In the extension of cancer treatment, this novel drug delivery system could also be used with magnetic resonance imaging. Which can track the drug in the whole body and monitor the progress of the cancer treatment?
