Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Sunday announced that Union Home Minister and former BJP chief
Amit Shah will hold a virtual rally to address the party workers and reach out to its cadres at around 72,000 booths, as the saffron party caught its political opponents off guard.

Amit Shah set to sound election bugle:
This virtual rally is being touted as an official launch of the Bihar elections campaign by the BJP as a projected 5 lakh workers will listen to Amit Shah’s address on Facebook Live, YouTube and on the Namo app. Bihar Assembly polls are slated to happen in October-November  this year. However, opposition RJD and Congress made a scathing attack on the BJP for going into “election mode” at a time when the state’s Covid-19 tally is rapidly increasing with more than 4500 infections and the country is yet to win in its battle against the Coronavirus.

Bihar BJP president Dr Sanjay Jaiswal defended the party’s decision and said the virtual meeting is just a way to stay connected to each and every party worker, to boost their morale and give them some positivity. He further added that Amit Shah would most likely lay out the achievements of Modi government 2.0 and how the centre tackled the novel Covid-19 virus.

Congress on the other hand, asked the BJP some very important questions, one of which was that in Bihar, despite its leaders holding the Health portfolio in the NDA government for 13 years, why does the state have half the posts of doctors vacant?

BJP’s alliance partner, JD(U) said that their party, too, went digital a long time ago and that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also been connecting with the workers through video calls.
