For the primary time ever, humans are placed in biostasis or physiological state. Biostasis may be the hibernation-like technique that researchers believe could help save many lives within the future. In a very trial conducted within us, humans were placed in biostasis to permit the repair of traumatic lesions that may otherwise cause death.
The official name of the technique employed by the team is Emergency Preservation and Resuscitation. Biostasis involves rapidly cooling someone right down to about 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit by replacing an outsized portion of their blood with an awfully cold isotonic solution.
Once doing so, the brain activity of the patient stops almost completely, where they're then disconnected from the cooling system and therefore the body is within the OR. The surgical team has approximately 2 hours to repair the patients would before the body warms up again, and the heart starts to make a copy.
