Speaking at his father's inauguration ceremony in Florida on Wednesday, 14-year-old Sam recalled the terrifying times he and his family had as they waited for Tiger's return from hospital after being in hospital last year involved in a car accident.

His teenage daughter described the tragedy as one of her father's "ultimate mistakes."

"We don't know if you came home on two legs or not," Sam admitted. "Now that you will not only be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but you are also standing here on your own two feet. That's why you deserve it." Sam added, "You're a fighter, you." "Every time I run into an obstacle."

In February 2021, Woods was hospitalized after a car accident. The five-time Masters champion has suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right leg, including tibia and fibula fractures. During the crash, which occurred on the border between Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes in Southern California, Woods' car hit a sign in the center bulkhead and hit a tree before docking on the side of the road.

 

In April last year, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said that speed was the leading cause of Wood's crash. However, the sheriff also tells there was no "sign of damage," and Woods would not receive a quote about the incident.
