The industrialist admits that the nation-wide lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic “flattened wrong curve” and that India has ended up with the worst of both worlds.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hosted well known industrialist, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, in his series of interacting with popular economical, health and business experts in lieu with the global Covid-19 pandemic. Gandhi stated that the world didn’t go through a lockdown even in the midst of the World War. He said, “I don’t think anyone imagined that the world would be locked down in this way. I don’t think that even during the World War, the world was locked down. I think even then things were open, it’s a unique and devastating phenomenon.”

Bajaj Auto director Rajiv Bajaj says the government “flattened the wrong curve”:

Baja Auto’s director, Rajiv Bajaj in a video interaction with Rahul Gandhi said,” We tried to implement a hard lockdown which was still porous. So, i think we have ended up with worst of both worlds. On one hand, a porous lockdown makes sure that the virus will still exist and as you said, it is still waiting to hit you when you will unlock. So, you have not solved that problem but you have definitely decimated the economy.  You flattened the wrong curve, it is not the infection curve, it is the GDP curve.”

Rajiv Bajaj shared his views on an “atmosphere of fear” in India:

Rajiv Bajaj when asked about an “atmosphere of fear” in the nation said that India needed to mend a couple of things in regards to being tolerant and sensitive.  On Unlock 1.0, Bajaj said,” We are not seeing a smooth, concentrated, rhythmic movement of unlocking. Unfortunately, India not only looked west, it went to the Wild West. I think we stayed more towards the impervious side.”

Rahul Gandhi agreed with Bajaj’s view and said,” The lockdown was also imposed suddenly. The rich can deal with it as they have a home, a comfortable atmosphere, but it is completely devastating for the poor people and migrants.” The Congress MP also reiterated his concerns on the Indian economy due to the Coronavirus and said,” If you don’t have an economy left, there is nothing.”
