Sunday, amidst the ongoing gunbattle with terrorists, an army jawan was
martyred in a village of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said
that two terrorists were also executed in the encounter. Following a tip
received on the presence of some terrorists, security forces on Sunday launched a joint-operation in Gundana area of Posta-Potra village, 26
kilometres away from Doda.
Officials stated, "In the
initial firing, from terrorists burrowed inside a house, an army jawan got
shot, was severely injured and while being evacuated to the hospital, succumbed
to his injuries. "He was identified as Mohammad Amin Bagat and his death
was mourned throughout the regiment, he will be remembered for his service to
the nation as a martyr. The officials further added, "After receiving
inputs about the presence of terrorists inside a house, a joint operation of
India Army's 10 Rashtriya Rifles, police and CRPF teams was launched on
Saturday night." Civilians were safeguarded and more details on it are
awaited.

As the forces closed in on the house where the terrorists were said to be holed up, terrorists started firing heavily and they were matched by the retaliation fire. The standoff with the terrorists continues as sources said 2 terrorists got killed in the shoot-out, further details awaited.
In 2020 itself, Doda district
witnessed it's the second encounter between armed forces and terrorists, as
security forces had eliminated Hizbul Mujahideen commander Haroon Abbas on 15th
January.
