We come across many individuals in this world who have been a victim to a black past, something that at some point broke them from the inside, but a few of them, instead of giving up halfway, stood the test of time and faced the adversities as it came, rose above all their struggles to only ultimately become a winner in life. These individuals are the ones who go ahead in creating history with their talents, making a unique name for themselves in their areas of interest. 

We had the good fortune to come across one such fighter, highly talented individual and a rising name in the music world of America, which is known as the breeding ground of rappers and others artists; he is Joseph C Reaves, aka J Spaz, who is making waves in the music industry of the US, being one of the most sought-after young talents as a singer, songwriter and rapper.

Since a very early age, if anything that ever attracted J Spaz, it was boxing and music. Hence, as a kid, he always remained active in vigorous activities in school and then gave much time to making raps as well. He is a young talent from Philadelphia, the US, who grew up with big dreams in his big eyes and worked towards it relentlessly. 

However, since life is not always about sunshine and happiness, it does come with a lot many struggles to test individuals and make them stronger; Joseph C Reaves was not an exception. The youngster, who has been an amateur boxer in late 2016, was shot seven times as a victim to gun violence on the streets of Philadelphia and this tragic incident placed him in a coma for several months. It was in early 2017 that he woke up and realized that life gave him another opportunity. He understood his true potential and started working upon music more.

In the same year, he released his first project and since then has never looked back. In 2019, J Spaz released his first album titled 'Laneless the mixtape' including eight songs. The song has been greatly received and appreciated by the listeners and music lovers and so far has also garnered 30K views on YouTube already. Speaking about Laneless the mixtape, Joseph Reaves says he chose the name Laneless because the phrase Laneless reminds him of a highway with many lanes and the highway here represents his life and all the lanes he took. 

Laneless the mixtape which got released on all streaming platforms including Apple Music, Spotify and more exudes the artists' passion and ingenuity as a performer. It is a mix of sounds from all different genres of music, pop, R&B hip-hop and hardcore rap.

Ask him his favourite track from the album and the now 29-year-old music talent is quick to reply, "Plotting, which has become one of the most popular songs from the album". Plotting is special to him because the song is based on the true story of his life where he was the victim of gun violence. It takes the listeners deep into the track with breaking down the tragic event in detail.

Today, Joseph C Reaves, aka J Spaz, is an independent artist and has recently teamed up with E Ness Mathis, an ex-member of the BadBoy records and a trending social media star named Lil Mop Top for his latest project titled Laneless 2.
