Two days after the sad demise of Global actor Irrfan, his wife Sutapa Sikdar released a heartbreaking statement on Friday to thank the fans for their support. Sutapa said, “It’s difficult to explain what a wondrous, beautiful, overwhelming, painful and exciting this journey has been. I find this 2 and 1/2 years to have been an interlude, which had its own beginning, middle and culmination with Irrfan helming the role of the orchestra conductor, separate from the 35 years of our companionship, ours was not a marriage, it was a union.”  

Sutapa exclaimed that Irrfan always saw a rhythm in everything, even in chaos and that has molded her to the point where she now sings and dances to the music of that rhythm. 

She further describes that she asked her children to sum up the most important lesson taught by their father, to whom Babil said, “Learn to surrender to the dance of uncertainty and trust your faith in the universe.” And Ayan said, “Learn to control your mind and to not let it control you.”

Sutapa also thanked for the amazing support she has received and that the fans’ reaction was unbelievable. She thinks it felt personal to many people all over the world, and for that reason, she prefers to call them family instead of fans. She says “How can I write this as a family statement when the whole world is taking it as a personal loss? How can I begin to feel alone when millions are grieving with us at the moment? I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain. It’s a gain of the things he taught us, and now we shall finally begin to truly implement it and evolve.” Irrfan’s elder son Babil too thanked friends for their support, posting on his Instagram Story. 

Irrfan was detected of neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 and was last seen in the Hindi film ANGREZI MEDIUM which released on 13th March 2020.
