registered a huge 5,611 COVID-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, as per
the Union Health Ministry. This pushes the tally to 1,06,750 total infections
which made India the 11th worst affected nation, worldwide. The number of
deaths due to coronavirus rose to 3,303, as the recovery rate increased to
39.62%. A total of 42,297 patients have recovered from this fatal virus.
Maharashtra remains the worst
affected state as cases rose to 37,136 with 1,325 causalities. Odisha is facing
a crisis as total cases in the state went up-to 978 and the state is bracing
itself for Cyclone Amphan.
The Railway Ministry has
decided to start 200 regular trains across the country from 1st June. The
routes are still being finalized, but it is rumoured that all the cities having
a high number of migrants will be given a train or an extra stop. Meanwhile, Dr
Harsh Vardhan, the Union Health Minister will be appointed on 22nd May as the
Chairman of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Executive Board.
Mumbai, the worst affected
Indian city due to COVID-19 pandemic is seeing a massive exodus of migrants.
Migrants have started leaving their homes in Mumbai, walking bare-footed,
boarding buses or the Shramik Special Trains. In Delhi, the number of
containment zones has gone down, but it is still observing a high rise in daily
Coronavirus cases, Delhi's tally stood at 10,054.

Gujarat crossed the 12000 marks
in the number of positive cases as it reported 395 fresh infections. Gujaratis
took to streets to work on 19th May as Chief Minister Vijay Rupani eased off
many restrictions.
Globally, almost 4.8 million
people have been infected with over 3,23,000 causalities.
