Researchers have pieced unitedly a model of the human body using organ chips. The technique could speed up research on diseases and new treatment therapies. The organ chips tissue cells from a specific organ linked together like systems on the human body.
The human body will allow researches to study the human response to various drugs and chemicals, externally the use of human or animal test points. A Harvard team built an instrument called the interrogator, which automatically links the organ chips to create a functional human body.
With this machine, they will be able to predict how the human body will metabolize drugs and medicines. The team strongly believes that organ chips have great potential to speed up drug development and regular outdo animal studies to the point where animal studies are just no longer needed.
Using this method, researchers would also be able to create specific organ chips for individual patients. This would allow researchers to test drug combinations fro personalized care before administering them to the patient.
