Walmart is constructing warehouses with a high-tech spin to ship products to consumers faster and expand its online business.

The retailer stated Friday it plans to create four new fulfillment bases that use automation to load and ship online orders more efficiently, with the first location opening this summer in Illinois. For consumers, the new warehouses will tell next-day, or two-day delivery could be more usual for goods including cereal and T-shirts.

The plans arrive as Walmart contends with online retail giant Amazon, making it easy for clients with Prime memberships to order a broad spectrum of items and deliver them within a day. 

With more of Walmart’s sales coming from its website in recent years, it already has 31 structures that organize online orders. Almost 3,500 of its shops, or approximately 75% of its locations, also satisfy online demands.
