Recent
reports suggest that Cricket Australia (CA) have shown their doubts on staging
the T-20 World Cup this year which is supposed to happen in October-November.
In fact, CA has also seemingly shifted their focus from the T-20 World Cup to
the Test Series against India that is slated to be staged in December-January.
Kevin Roberts, CEO of Cricket
Australia, speaks about the same to reporters.
Australia's Cricket Board has
called out the schedule of the T-20 World Cup under "very high risk"
& is apparently focusing only on the Test series which the country will
play against India in December-January. CEO of Cricket Australia, Kevin Roberts
on Friday told reporters, “The T20 World Cup is a big question and that’s a factor of perhaps (AUD) 20 million.

It is reportedly said that the
Test Series against India would be worth AUD 300 million. But, in terms of
estimated revenue, the CA would still be short of AUD 80 million, which would
also, including the loss in revenue in case the T-20 World Cup gets postponed,
according to Roberts.
Roberts however further said
that the crowds might turn out to be very less in numbers, plus the
bio-security measures that would be required to deliver the season would also
cost them AUD 10 million.
On the other hand, BCCI
treasurer, Arun Dhumal says that the tour is on.
Arun Dhumal, treasurer of BCCI,
quoted saying that as far as they are concerned, the tour is on. They will be
reviewing the safety measures & would also be taking government permission.

This statement from Dhumal came
on the day Roberts talked about the test schedule against India, which could
see a change caused by COVID-19. As against the multiple venue affair, the CA
is also open to converting it into a single venue affair. Talking on the same
Roberts said, “There are a lot of variables based on whether we have four
venues in four states or as little as one venue in one state. There are endless
scenarios and possibilities.”
In any case scenario, Dhumal said that the BCCI is ok with a limited or single venue.
