Suhas will compete in the Paralympics for the first time. Excerpts from a conversation with Asian Para Games bronze medalist and Asian Championship champion Suhas.

You are an IAS as well as a player. How do you balance the two?

All people do the work: some 8 hours, some 10 hours. Then in the increased time, people do the work of their choice. Someone watches YouTube; someone watches a movie; someone else does the job.

How did the corona cause difficulty in preparation?

The Paralympics were to take place in 2020. But it was postponed because of Corona. Corona got a chance to play for a few days after the first wave was over. But could not play for three months after the second wave. So I finished my office work and practiced badminton late into the night. Sometimes practiced for two hours. So sometimes I only got 1 hour of practice time.

Who will be challenged in the Paralympics?

No. 1 France will face a strong challenge from Lucas Mazur. However, I have beaten 23-year-old Lucas many times. But many times, I have also faced defeat. Currently, my world ranking is 3.

How many medals are expected?

At the Tokyo Paralympics, I will give my all. I will do my best for the medal.
