Anxiety throughout the whole sporting world as Borussia Dortmund will play local rivals Schalke 04 with precautions in the Ruhr Derby.

The sporting world will witness the return of football, as Bundesliga resumes on Saturday, after a two-month suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The German the top-flight league will restart without the audiences and matches will be held behind closed doors. With strong safety guidelines like players must not spit, touch one another's hand, not celebrate a goal in groups, substitutes and coaches on the bench must wear protective masks, etc., the German league will resume with the Ruhr derby when Borussia Dortmund take on their cross-city rivals Schalke 04. 

 


To create an atmosphere, clubs will use cardboard cutouts of fans and play some music to give players some feel. Germany has a very good recovery rate in the battle against Coronavirus and the death toll is also low as compared to other European nations. Bayern Munich, four points clear at the top will resume their hunt for an eighth successive championship as they will travel to the capital to play Union Berlin.

Borussia Dortmund's home, Signal Iduna Park attracts a maximum of 82,000 people to watch them play but to avert the risk of spreading the virus, games will be played without the fans. Their fixture against Schalke 04 will be broadcasted live on Saturday, at 7 PM IST. 


 

Bundesliga matches can be seen on Star Sports Select 1 and Star Sports Select 2 with live streaming available on Disney+ Hotstar. 


The footballing community anxiously turns their attention to Bundesliga as other footballing leagues in Europe set sights to resume as soon as they can.
