Sir Rod Stewart and his son pleaded guilty to manslaughter over a brawl with security guards at a Florida hotel in 2019. The singer or his son Sean were charged with assault after being denied access to a private New Year's Eve event, according to a police report.
Sean, 41, reportedly pushed the guards, and Sir Rod, 76, punched him in the chest "with a closed fist," the report said.
That means they won't go to court, jail, pay fines or serve probation, said Sir Rod's lawyer Guy Fronstein. The judge overruled the decision - meaning they were not officially convicted. Fronstein said: "No one was injured in the incident, and the jury did not find Sir Rod Stewart guilty.
"Instead, Sir Rod Stewart decided to intervene to avoid the inconvenience and unnecessary burden on the courts and the public that a high-profile case would cause." An altercation with security guard Jesse Dixon broke out at the luxurious Breakers Palm Beach Hotel.
Dixon told police he asked Sean Stewart to retire after the rock star's son hit him. According to court records, Sean Stewart pushed Mr. Dixon before Sir Rod approached the guard and punched him in the left chest.
Sir Rod told police that after the family's access was denied, Dixon began arguing with them, which court records say caused the family to become "restless."
Sir Rod apologized for his role in the incident, the warrant said.
