Alec Baldwin said he "did not pull the trigger" on the gun used to injure cinematographer Halina Hutchins on the set of his film Rust. That's what the star said in her first interview since the October incident. Stefanopoulos described their 80-minute discussion as "raw" and "intense."

The reporter described Baldwin, 63, as "devastated" but "very sincere" and "out" while reviewing Wednesday's Good Morning America interview. "I've done thousands of interviews on ABC over the last 20 years," he said. "It was the most intense I've ever had."

Baldwin is best known for his appearances in films such as Glengarry Glen Ross and The Hunt for Red October and his role as Donald Trump on the American sketch show Saturday Night Live.

The interview is the first time Baldwin has spoken about the incident on camera, except for a brief interview with TMZ in October to prevent the paparazzi from following him and his family. He said the incident as "one in a trillion episodes" and said such incidents on set are sporadic.

Ms. Hutchins was shot dead when Mr. Baldwin was training what he considers a "cold" gun - or safe - on the set of Rust, New Mexico. She is believed to have gotten thinner when she sheathed it during rehearsals for the upcoming scene.

Ms. Hutchins was rushed to the hospital by helicopter after the shooting but later died of his injuries. Director Joel Souza, 48, was also injured.

According to court records, the gun was handed over to Mr. Baldwin by the film's assistant director Dave Halls, who was unaware it contained ammunition and said the weapon had been diluted with screams of "cold shot."
