Alex Sarr and CJ McCollum Dominate Magic Starters in 120-112 Wizards Victory

The Orlando Magic starters had one of their most unproductive outings of the season against a surging Wizards team. Paolo Banchero was held to just 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting and committed 4 turnovers, finishing with a team low plus minus of 22 in only 24 minutes. The entire starting unit struggled to find energy, with Tristan da Silva managing 13 points and Wendell Carter Jr contributing only 2 points. The lack of defensive intensity from the opening tip allowed Washington to build a staggering 26 point lead by the third quarter.

Alex Sarr and CJ McCollum Lead the Wizards

Washington was powered by veteran guard CJ McCollum, who scored 27 points, and rising star Alex Sarr, who contributed 23 points and 8 rebounds. Sarr was a force on both ends, effectively deterring the Magic from attacking the rim with 4 massive blocks. The Wizards shot efficiently and took full advantage of Orlandos 19 turnovers, which Washington converted into 29 points. This victory marks Washingtons fifth win in their last seven games, signaling a major turnaround for the rebuilding squad.

Bench Mob Nearly Completes Historic Comeback

Frustrated by the starters lack of effort, coach Jamahl Mosley turned to his bench early in the second half. Led by rookie Jase Richardson, who scored a career high 20 points, the Magic reserves launched an incredible rally to trim the lead. Orlando actually whittled the 26 point deficit down to just two points at 107-105 with five minutes remaining in the game. However, the comeback fell short as CJ McCollum hit a pair of clutch jumpers and a three pointer to steady the Wizards and secure the 120-112 win.

Turnovers and Defensive Lapses Cost Orlando

The primary reason for the loss was Orlandos inability to take care of the basketball, committing 17 of their 19 turnovers through the first three quarters. Coach Mosley was critical of the teams starting energy, noting that they put themselves in a hole that was simply too deep to climb out of. With Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner still sidelined by injuries, the Magic are struggling with consistency on the road. They must now regroup quickly for their next game against the Brooklyn Nets on the second night of a back to back.
