Gomphotherium is a little bizarre prehistoric elephant that is dissimilar from the other. Gomphotherium quite had two tusks protruding down from the top jaw, but they were recurved, which means that they were gently curved towards the body rather than away like in present elephants. 

Two other tusks stand out from the tip of the lower jay to from a type of tooth shovel, which was used for rooting up plants. There is no smooth tissue last of a trunk, but Gemphotherium is still a concept to have occult one since the skull is shaped to permit the bond of one.

Also, the fact Gomphotherium would have probably been physically impotent to feed without one. The length of the trunk can vary much in artistic renderings, but paleontologists think. That would mean at least lengthy sufficient to reach the plants scooped up on the bottom tusks and long enough to recover water.

Gomphotherium was one of the most wells to do with all the prehistoric elephants, with the bygone fossils being known from North America and then once found as far as western Europe and Africa. Generally, Gomphotherium is related to wetland ecosystems near bodies of water. Since the softer ground related to these areas would allow for easier digging with teeth. 

When it came to eating, Gemphotherium had fewer molars than earlier elephants, but those had higher ridges to make them more systematic at grinding.
