Drew Barrymore has apologized for making fun of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's case on her show, The Drew Barrymore Show, while speaking with a guest. While chatting with a guest – actor Anthony Anderson, who was previously accused of sexual assault – the actor drew criticism for laughing about how the former couple's case was full of "insanity."

Drew said on the show, "It's like one layer of crazy, it's a seven-layer deep of insanity," according to Huffpost.com. During the show, Drew discussed several odd details of Johnny as well as Amber's allegations against each other, saying, "It's like one layer of crazy, it's a seven-layer deep of insanity."

"I understand that these are two people's real lives," she added, "and I know it's like to have your life put out in the open." I understand all of the emotions, but they're disclosing this information," says the couple, laughing.

Drew later apologized for the incident in a video posted to Instagram. She described it as a "teachable moment" about how she should act in the future.

"It has arrived at my attention that I have offended people by making fun of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, and also for that, I just want to deeply apologize and thank everybody who has spoken out because this can be a teaching moment for me and how I move forward as well as conduct myself," she said in the video.

"I can be a more thoughtful as well as better person moving forward because all I want to do is be a good person," she continued. "I greatly appreciate the depth of this, and I will grow and change due to it." And I believe that anyone could teach me and help me grow along the way."

Johnny Depp has sued Amber Heard for defamation after she wrote a column for the Washington Post in which she directed herself as a "public figure representing domestic abuse."
