When the first case of Omicron was found in Jamnagar in Gujarat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a high-level review meeting of the state health department. The readiness for the new variant was reviewed at a high-level meeting in which Health Minister Hrishikesh Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi joined the high-level meeting by video conference.

The Chief Minister instructed the meeting to strictly implement the new guidelines issued by the Government of India about Omicron variants. He urged us to follow these instructions and not make any compromises. The Chief Minister also appealed to all citizens to use social distance, masks, and sanitation to the fullest, urging them to be vigilant or cautious even in the context of this new variant. Senior officials including Kailashnathan, Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Manoj Agarwal were also present.
