The latest culture for the past 2-3 years in the music
industry & Bollywood moreover has been about recreating older songs or hits
from the Hindi film industry & remix them. Well, undoubtedly most of the
remixes do become a hit with the number of likes & shares they get on
YouTube & music producers & companies make the maximum of profits out
of it. However, the original creators of any work of art do not obviously
support the idea of a remix or a recreation.
The latest remixed song to see criticisms flowing from a few
from the film industry & the original creators of the song is Tanishk Bagchi's
"Masakali 2.0." The original song "Masakali" from the film
Delhi 6 which was a huge hit was composed by the legendary music director &
Oscar winner AR Rahman and lyrics were written by Prasoon Joshi with Mohit
Chauhan as the lead singer.
T-Series released the remix version called Masakali 2.0
recreated by Tanishk Bagchi which was criticised by not only the original
creators of the song, but equally by the fans. After the release of the song,
AR Rahman took to Twitter to express his displeasure on the same & wrote,
“No short cuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and re-writes.
Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce
music that can last generations. A team of a director, a composer and a
lyricist supported by actors, dance directors and a relentless film crew.”

With the tweet, Rahman tagged lyricist Prasoon Joshi along
with the director of Delhi 6 Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Both of them came forward
to support the argument by the composer. Mehra on Twitter wrote, “#Masakali #Delhi6
Created with love & passion an iconic song that has to be preserved. Beware
of the re-mix it will damage your eardrums.” Soon Prasoon Joshi also condemned
the remixed version & wrote on Twitter, “All songs written for #Delhi6
including #Masakali close to heart, sad to see when the original creation of
@arrahman @prasoonjoshi_ & singer @_MohitChauhan insensitively utilised. Up to the conscience of @Tseries. Hopefully, the fans will stand for originality.
@RakeyshOmMehra.”
Showing support for the same, singers Mohit Chauhan & Shreya Ghoshal, actor Sonam Kapoor (who starred in Delhi 6 along with Abhishek Bachchan) & musician Ankur Tewari also shared the tweets. Lyricist & singer Swanand Kirkire condemned it on Twitter by writing, "Masakali Massacred." Director Hansal Mehta also came in support of the original song & wrote a long post on Twitter condemning the remixed version saying that the "recreation of old songs can stop if the public rejects them."

Tanishk Bagchi is known for making remixes like Aankh Marey, Dilbar, and Illegal weapon among many others.
