Andrew Garfield has announced that he will be taking a break from acting.

Key Takeaways:

  • After a year of constant work, Andrew Garfield has revealed that he takes a break from acting.
  • After concluding production on FX's Under the Banner of Heaven, the actor has decided to take a vacation, an adaptation of Jon Krakauer's 2003 true-crime novel.

Andrew Garfield has announced that he is taking a vacation from acting after a year of nonstop labor. He said he was "going to rest" for a while to "recalibrate and evaluate" his future decisions. Last year, the actor appeared in three films: The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Tick, Tick... Boom!, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Andrew rose to prominence as Spider-Man in the MCU films The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) before revisiting his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home last year (2021). The actor's work on the limited series Under the Banner of Heaven is complete.

"I'm going to relax for a little while," Andrew told Variety of his decision. I need to refocus and contemplate what I want to accomplish next and who I want to be, and simply be a person for a while." "I simply need to be a little average for a while," he added.

After wrapping production on FX's Under the Banner of Heaven, an adaptation of Jon Krakauer's 2003 true-crime novel, the actor has opted to take a break. He will play a Mormon investigator who investigates the horrible murder of a mother (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and her baby daughter by fanatical Latter-day Saints.

Tom Holland, Andrew's co-star in the Spider-Man franchise, had already hinted at his departure. "I've loved every minute of it," he said in a People interview from December of last year. I'm grateful to Marvel and Sony for giving us a chance, keeping us on, and letting our characters develop.

It's been an incredible experience. While I don't want to say goodbye to Spider-Man, I think we're getting close. I don't want to be the 1 who has to hold back the next young child who is just as deserving."
